Do It Again |

by - 12:26

Walking around these walls
I thought by now they'd fall
But You have never failed me yet
Waiting for change to come
Knowing the battle's won
For You have never failed me yet

Your promise still stands
Great is Your faithfulness, faithfulness
I'm still in Your hands
This is my confidence, You've never failed me yet

I've seen You move, come move the mountains
And I believe, I'll see You do it again
You made a way, where there was no way
And I believe, I'll see You do it again
-Do It Again-

God is no stranger to me and I am no stranger to Him. Throughout my life, I have experienced His miraculous power and love in so many different situations whether big or small. I can really testify to His goodness. What kind of person am I to not trust and believe that His plans are better?

Few years ago, I believe God dropped a burden in my heart for the church, His people. To serve Him through my church and to give up my job. At that time, I was already afraid... Not so much of the salary but my parents' feelings. Mom and dad are pre-believers and they would go crazy if I were to drop this 'bomb' at them. I was in a youth conference and the worship team led this song called Do It Again by Elevation Worship. My spirit was lifted in worship as I sing and the confidence that God will pave the way for Sean and I became stronger, I am assured- He is in control and will be in control. We will not lack in anything especially MONEY.

Fast forward...

15 June 2018 - The day I heard so clearly about leaving (my job). A step out into the unknown (into full time in church). With a wedding underway (6 months), I don't know how we are able to do this. But as the songs above says, I have really seen God move, I believe that He will do it again and again and again. I have to obey, trust and have faith...

27 June 2018 - Woke up and asked God "Please speak to me through my devotion today"? I opened my app and came Matthew 14:22-33.

22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd.
23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone,
24 and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.
25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.
26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.
27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.
33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

And the message from my devotional app goes like this:

Have you ever taken a risk in your obedience to God? Perhaps He’s given you an assignment that strikes you as beyond your abilities. Demonstrating faith in God may appear to be risky business, but it’s actually the safest thing to do. Furthermore, it’s the way the Lord expects His followers to live.

Can you imagine what the other disciples thought when Peter stepped out of the boat? It seemed like a crazy thing to do, yet Peter trusted that Jesus would keep him from sinking into the raging water.

And Peter did a pretty good job of walking on the water until he took his eyes off Jesus. As long as his total focus was on Christ, he was fine. Yet when he allowed himself to be distracted by human fears, he fell deep into trouble—literally!

This demonstrates an important principle: When doubts prevent us from obeying God, we are doomed to failure. But when we step out in faith, God always assumes full responsibility for the consequences of our obedience.

The story of Peter’s walk on the sea teaches us three things.

• God will lead us into challenging situations that call us to walk by faith.
• Christ stands ready to rescue us when we cry out to Him.
• The Spirit of God will never let us fall beyond His reach.

Are you facing a situation that requires full trust in the Lord as you step out in obedience to Him? The real risk lies in your temptation not to obey Him. Keep your eyes on the heavenly Father, and He’ll see you safely to the other side.

So, yesterday (27 June) was the day I decided to take some courage and speak to my parents about my plans for the future...I did not expect it to be a bed of roses and I did it, I spoke to them. As expected, my mum's reaction was not very pleasing but I totally understand where she's coming from. Working in church? How much can you earn? How are you gonna survive? (Btw, my fiance is also working in church)... She ended up speechless after telling me a a couple of reasons related to money. And boy was she not at all pleased. This however, did not affect me badly. I know God will move my mum, if He can move mountains, why not her? I am still trusting Him in this and yes, I am still going to pursue this calling of mine. It's just a matter of time. And hey, God's timing is the best lah!

I will wait.

(Stay tuned for updates!)

Thank you for reading!

Love,
Sheryn
