S E E K E E L E E

Attractions in Penang are vastly rising so if nobody evolves, in another word, move forward, they're just gonna be taken over by new and upcoming attractions. This is why I salute the once boring looking butterfly farm. It is now transformed into a modern-spaceship-looking building housing over a thousand species of butterflies and other creepy crawlies.

I am fortunate enough to get to experience what tourists experience coz I work in the hotel line which means I stand a chance to visit places where people need to pay, for FREE! How cool? Last year I went to Star Cruise and just yesterday I visited the newly revamped Butterfly Farm now called Entopia.

Entopia's Mascot
It was wayyyy back when I last visited this place. I don't even have any memory about how it looked like inside the building. When I walked in yesterday I was a little surprise to see soooo many butterflies flying around me. I almost forgot they are EVERYWHERE. Haha it was quite hot when we went but hot is good. Butterflies love the hot weather, that is why they were flying happily, everywhere! I even saw a couple of butterflies doing the "courtship dance" in the air. In courtship dance, the male butterfly seek approval from the female to mate! Even butterflies have good manners. Haha! Once approved, they will start mating  and here's how it looks like:

Mating on the ground
Look at the colours! These Butterflies are feasting on the Hibiscus juice.
This netted area is called the Grassland where the Dragonflies live
A close-up with Blue!
I will literally collapse if this thing moves. Thank God it was so still, camouflaging with the plant.
This one too! I had a hard time noticing them!
After walking around and being super fascinated by the insects, we went into the indoor part of the park. I got the chance to hear from the owner, Joseph Goh about what he does besides this exhibition. Besides the exhibition, Entopia also does exporting of butterflies. Many zoos from other countries are importing the pupa from this place. Everything is done within 4 days, including transportation to make sure they remain safe. Since the life expectancy of a butterfly is about 14 days, I suppose Entopia's exporting business will only grow. Listening from the owner himself made my visit even more interesting. He explained how fast the caterpillars consume leaves and how they need to have enough 'food' for them and that he has a 30-acre land solely built to breed the butterflies.

At this stage, the caterpillar becomes liquid and forms into a pretty butterfly.
Hello World!
My mind is BLOWN. How amazing is this metamorphosis?? Something that has a body and legs, turns into LIQUID and then turns into something with WINGS. This is the beauty of God's creation. We will never fully comprehend how things work, but they work anyway. And btw, I actually don't know how caterpillars look like can you imagine? When I think of caterpillars, it's always this green cartoon image in my mind... Wait, lemme show you...

This is how caterpillar looks like to me before I saw the real ones. HAHAHA!
Soooo... This is how caterpillars look like!!
Here's another one.. They look a little scary rite? With the pokey pokey thingy.. Haha! Not as cute as I thought.
Ok, I bet you didn't know this:
HAHAHA I think I wasn't sweating enough earlier...
There are actually more areas which I have explored in Entopia that I didn't mention in this post. They are quite dark and I didn't have my camera with me so I didn't take photos. All the photos here were taken with my Samsung Note 3. The darker areas are pretty cool as well. I saw more bugs and weird looking creatures in their terrariums. You should pay a visit soon! At the end of my tour, I went to the souvenir shop and was attracted by... stickers and some really cool environmental friendly pens!!

These pens were made from biodegradable compose. So super cool!
This is how the entire area looks like.

Here I end my post. This was such a nice breather from work yesterday! The heat and sweat were worth it. What's in Entopia besides the living things? There are meeting rooms, cafe, theater, souvenir shop and more! You should visit their website to find out what activity goes on at different time of the day. They are also selling introductory tickets now, so hurry, get cheaper tickets from their website!

No cutleries. Just hands.

I went to Lone Pine Hotel Penang the other day to try their latest addition at The Bungalow called the Crabby Claws. I know I am supposed to write about food here but hey, I'm a sucker for packaging, designs and copy-writing so now if I could, I'd love to give a few pats on the designer's shoulder before I go on raving about the seafood. I love how the poster & menu looks omg! Cuteness overload!

If you don't already know, the concept of Crabby Claws is similar to the Crab & Lobster in Straits Quay where the food is served on the table itself without plates and guests are encouraged to eat with their hands instead of using cutleries. Similar, except I prefer Crabby Claws! Read on to find out why besides the fact that I can finally eat with my hands without feeling judged.

I arrived a little earlier and I got to capture this beautiful view just right in front of The Bungalow where I was gonna have my dinner... The Bungalow is an al fresco restaurant by the beach which serves buffet breakfast, western and local delights during the day & evening.

Before the dinner started, I was gazing at the beauty of the poolside. It's so serene I feel rested just by looking.

Refreshing fruit punch was specially prepared for us. So pretty!
This is Patrick & Barry and there's one more, Steven Goh who made the evening a little more fun!

At Crabby Claws, every seat is 'equipped' with 1 apron, a pair of gloves for you to put on and a bowl of water with lemon for you to clean your hands after the meal. The apron is the cutest of all! See how I pulled it off...
Ta daa! Nice rite? Hahaha!!
There is a grill station with a wide array of seafood for you to choose from. They have mud crab, flower crab, King prawn, Tiger prawn and a few choices of fish, scallops, squid, clams, mussels and more. These are all available at market price. If you are lazy to choose, you can select from their sets instead. And if you want to have a balanced meal, don't worry, you can also pick out your favourite vegie and it will be cooked and served to you.

Mud Crab & Flower Crab
King prawn & Tiger prawn
Mussels & Scallops & Mussels & more Scallops
I especially love their prawns coz they were so meaty & so fresh. I think I had like 8 that night. Besides walloping the prawns, I also had a fair share of mega size mussels and not forgetting the giant scallops! I know I very kampung girl but it was my first time having the scallop. I loved it so much! OMG. I think I generally like everything seafood.

Here's the chef prepping the fish for us. I love how fresh the fish is!

As mentioned earlier, there are 2 sets that you can choose from which look like this:

Set A (RM79nett)
300g prawns | 180g squids | 150g kappa | 150g clams | sweet peas | potatoes | corns
(with your choice of plain rice / mantou / garlic bread)

Set B (RM138nett)
500g Mud Crab | 300g prawns |180g squids | 150g kappa | 150g clams | sweet peas | potatoes | corns
(with your choice of plain rice / mantou / garlic bread)

There are 3 types of sauce available and they are:
  • Sweet & Sour
  • Indonesian Curry
  • Kam Heong
I like that the sets are pretty affordable coz the last time I went to Crab & Lobster, I left with my stomach half full. It was a bit too pricey to order more so 4 people shared 1 set. Haha! We stingy like dat!

I bet you got bored looking at the raw stuff. I shall not withhold you anymore from cooked seafood...

Indonesian Curry
This one is Set B with Indonesian Curry. I have to say that I super duper love this sauce. It goes so well with the seafood. Although it has a thicker sauce, you could still eat it with rice coz the taste is heavenly! All the seafood was coated completely with the sauce and I have to admit I sucked the sauce outta the prawns & crabs. If you were wondering, nope, although it's called curry, it is not very spicy. I think people who can't eat spicy food can tolerate this.

Kam Heong
I also tried the Kam Heong sauce with the mini deep fried mantou. I personally wouldn't prefer this coz I am not a fan of Kam Heong sauce... But for those who like, you may try. It was a little salty for my liking but still very acceptable. I super love the mantou I think I took like 6 or something.

Sweet & Sour
The last one I tried was the Sweet & Sour sauce. I would also recommend this sauce to people who like sweetness in their food... (For example my bf, he would lick the table). I had this with some mantou and it was amazing. Did you know? You can order more mantou for RM11.65 nett for 8 pieces. I also love the combination of the vegie in this coz I super love the sweet peas in this sauce OMG I want more!

Do you remember seeing the chef at the grill station? These 2 were what he was working on. It's so surprising that the fish doesn't have that fishy smell and the meat was so smooth it was hard to take with my fingers. Over at the grill station, they have a few choices of fish for you to choose from and they are all sold at market price.

Here's the cutesy menu I was talking about:

I hope my post & photos did justice to my overall experience at Crabby Claws. If you like seafood like I do, quick, book a table, bring your friends/family along and start FEASTING!

Thank you Lone Pine Hotel Penang for your hospitality.

It has been 10 days since #ShalttsOnTour & we couldn't resist not seeing each other so we planned for dinner date! And to my pleasant surprise, S H A L T T S was complete! Every one of us was there and we definitely had a great time reminiscing our glory (NOT) days in school. Can't believe that we are once again united and it feels so good! The food in What The Duck was so-so, I'd rather go for steamboat or chu char but I give credit to the guy who served us... With most patience. Haha!

Here's us in alphabetical order :D
You know when you have girls who need to look good on photos and will demand the photos to be taken over and over again until they find the best looking one? Then it will result in this... So many photos taken at the same spot.

The story of our lives... I'm the biggest in size but always and forever bullied by the smallest in size. This is why life is never fair!

Big bully at work.

Tracy trying her shot as... a mother? Haha!

Here's our failed attempt on SNOW camera

Selfie with Kyra!
One more shot before we go home...
Last night ended early coz we are all aunties now. No longer "sap pat sui pok pok chui" (canto). As I recalled back, I realised how much (older) we've grown and how much more responsible people we've become and I'm proud. Haha! All wanna go home early coz need to recuperate. When I got home I couldn't sleep coz I was still very excited inside and wished that we could stay 14 forever. I hope this bond and friendship will last a lifetime and be passed down to our kids. We were just saying we can't wait for more babies to join Kyra and I think it'd be totally awesome... So.... WHO'S NEXT?

Tomorrow the world celebrates Mother's Day! If you're a mom and you're reading,

H A P P Y MOTHER'S D A Y!!!

Sean and I made appointment with my mummy dearest for a dinner treat this evening but all the sudden she called and said she doesn't want us to spend on dinner anymore and asked us to go phak thor instead... So we decided to catch a movie. Sean bugged me about not insisting on having the dinner. Well, I think I did try to insist? I forgot... But I think when she called to cancel, I was mentally tired and didn't think much and agreed, now I feel bad. :/ I shall arrange for a dinner to celebrate her!

My mum is my hero. She is a SUPER MOM! Although we fight and get on each other's nerves, our love for each other is GAME STRONG ok! Haha. So actually I think it's time the world knows how my mum is really like. She seems shy to most of my friends, but also fierce at the same time probably bcoz she was kinda strict with me when I was younger. My mom's name is Christine (I think she gave this name herself one) haha, she will kill me if I disclosed her real name. She has been the most generous soul I've ever met and seen. She's also a very, very kind person who would give when in lack.

I remember when my por por (Grannie) was really ill and was bed ridden, my mom gave her all to care for por por. She wasn't very young ok, like 2 years ago if not mistaken. She would climb up the bed and clean my porpor up, she would sweat and she always made sure that my por por was at her most comfy state. Long hours of work did not stop her from visiting and working out for my por por. Because of her, I learn how to handle soiled adult diaper etc. I watch her from afar sometimes and I am always very proud of her, for what she had sacrificed.

Last June was when my grandfather suffered from a bad stroke. It was such a chaotic time for the family. No one wants to contribute or at least be willing to help. Everyone was just sorta pushing the responsibilities to one another, even in paying for the medical fee. My parents are NOT rich, however that didn't stop my mom from giving. I saw her pulling one of my aunt aside and passed a red packet to her. I saw and was furious. I questioned my mom. I asked why she'd do that since she's only the daughter in law. She just kept quiet and said she needed to do something when no one wants to help. I was actually very angry coz there are others who are more well to do but pretend not to be involved but at the same time very happy that my mom is soooo kind.

Yes, my mama can be fierce sometimes but this character that she has really inspires me. SO MUCH. I learned that you don't have to have a lot to be able to give.

Here's something sad that I have to share. Not sure if I mentioned this before but I am considered a very spoiled girl when I am at home. I don't have to do my own laundry because my mom automatically did it for me. I never had to worry about my work uniform! So having that said, 3 weeks ago she 'mogok' and decided to let me do my own laundry and I hate it like mad. When I did the laundry myself, I struggled with using the washing machine etc... So guys, never take your mom for granted! Can someone do my laundry for me? :P

NEVER TAKE YOUR MOM FOR GRANTED.

I don't have many photos with my mummy dearest coz she doesn't really like taking photos. Haha so different from me hor? So here are a few that I managed to dig out...

Hey Mama!
MUMMY, YOU'RE SIMPLY THE BEST!
