Touring Turkey |

Felt really motivated today to write about my recent (a year ago) trip to the land of Turkey!
Again, this trip was fully sponsored by my ex company who took us to a 9-day tour in many parts of Turkey. A place where I never imagined I would be able to step my feet on.

I really count my blessings to be able to travel to various places, and what's more cool?
THEY WERE ALL PAID FOR!

I didn't really have a lot to look forward to besides the hot air balloons and the ruins of the churches that existed in the Bible but after being there myself, I think the beautiful scenery and views were really captivating! Sadly though, the food in Turkey was not that enjoyable... You'll see some of the food I ate throughout the trip below!

Some memories that I still have with me now are:
1. To the Turkish, I looked like a princess I think because of my face dimples haha! WHAT?! Ikr.
And because of this, I scored myself many free gifts while buying souvenirs while other of my ex colleagues stood in shock that they didn't get any.

2. My small eyes were special there (there were people who stopped just to take a second glance at my eyes)

And if you're more to a video kinda person, here's my compilation of the video I made for the 9 days I spent there:

Since I've talked about the sceneries that I enjoyed so much, I'll start with some photos taken of the places we been to.

Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque

Pergamon

Ephesus

Pamukkale (Cotton Castle)
This area is famous for the carbonate mineral left by the flowing of thermal spring water.

Cappadocia

Antartuk Mausoleum (Basically a tomb built for the ruler then)

Taken on the ship while we cruise through the Bosphorus Straits
It forms part of the continental boundary between Europe and Asia.

1 of the many shops in Istiklal Street at Beyoglu, Istanbul

Grand Bazaar, Istanbul

Let's move on to the food. Nothing much to shout about but at least, it was an experience! Every meal, I spot very different items which I cannot remember what they were but definitely nothing I've ever seen or tasted before. I was having some bad toothache situation half of the trip so I didn't really explore much on the food, except I had to try their kebabs, which I'm so glad I did!

This was my first meal at the Orix Lounge in Doha Airport
Breakfast was usually more 'edible' than other meals :D

Lunches & Dinners always start with a bowl of salad and soup (which I never finish)

Typical lunch served

We tried the famous Turkish coffee too! Not my cup of tea coffee.
Random fruit I spotted at the market

1 of the many buffet dinners at the hotel.

This was goat's milk yogurt with mustard seed an lotsa good honey! This was really tasty.

Honestly enjoyed this the most.
Flatbread with lamb

By now you can tell, how much rice we consumed!

This was a tough one to swallow. It's sponge cake drenched in sugar syrup.

Ok, really glad I got to try this at the Grand Bazaar on our last day in Turkey!

And here are some photos we took of ourselves! Let me start with thanking my friend, SK who was always so willing to take nice photos of us girls in the entire trip! (THANKIEW SK!!)

Always made sure we wake up earlier for shots

We had to cover our heads before entering the mosques and I kinda like the look!

One of my favourite shots of Jia Huoy. She makes a good model!
And I make a good photographer, don't ya think?! Haha!

CMI. I better stay behind the camera.

Joanne, my roomie!

Loved the colours!

Taken on the last day, before we flew back home...

Woke up at 5am and rushed out to admire these balloons!

Oh hey! A shop with my Chinese name found in Istanbul... Selling.. LINGERIE WHY NOT!

Some other random shots I took:

Souvenirs I got.
Trust me, a lot of the chocolates you see here were FREE GIFTS because to the turks, I looked like a princess HAHA!

Alright now, I'm probably boring you already, so that's all for my trip to Turkey. Certainly a memorable one and the last one with all my friends.
Thank you for reading!

Love,
Sheryn
